About us
The Society of Editors (Victoria) Inc. is an organisation for people who are engaged professionally in editing for publication. It has close to 400 members, including in-house and freelance editors.
The Society's aims are to:
- promote the exchange of ideas and the dissemination of information on matters of professional interest
- encourage contacts among members
- assist in establishing and maintaining high standards of editing
- liaise with other organisations in all matters affecting editors as a group.

Membership
Full membership of the Society of Editors (Victoria) is open to any person engaged professionally in editing for publication, or who has had such experience in the past. Associate membership is open to anyone interested in the Society's activities.
Benefits of membership include:
- a program of monthly meetings with guest speakers
- six issues of the Society's Newsletter each year
- access to the members-only area of this website
- access to the Society's e-list, which notifies members of job opportunities and other useful information
- eligibility to be included in the Freelance Register, an annual directory of freelance editors (full members only)
- discounts on training courses and workshops run by the Society
- discounts at selected bookshops.
